In the class video, we described how Nephi’s family called a place Shazer, but later stayed in a place that was called Nahom. The fact that Nahom already has a name is powerful evidence for the Book of Mormon’s authenticity. Learn more in Scripture Central’s video, “Who Called Ishmael’s Burial Place Nahom?”

Read this short article that provides interesting insights into Nephi’s broken bow.

Nephi describes a coastal region which they “called Bountiful, because of its much fruit and also wild honey” (1 Nephi 17:4–5). Many people wonder if such a coastal paradise ever existed in the Arabian Peninsula. Actually, it has!  In 1993 the Church released a seminary video called “I will prepare the way,” In which a high school student likens 1 Nephi 17 to her life. It’s still a great video and you can watch it here.
